What You'll Build
Throughout this course, students build a progressive series of mobile projects that grow in complexity at every stage. Mini-projects include: a mobile UI component showcase demonstrating core React Native components and styling, a multi-screen task manager with AsyncStorage persistence, a news reader app fetching live data from a public API with infinite scroll, and a camera and photo gallery app using Expo Image Picker. The capstone project is a complete, multi-screen React Native mobile application of the student's choice — built to production quality and submitted to both the Google Play Store (via an internal test track) and Apple TestFlight. The capstone application must include at minimum five distinct screens with full navigation, REST API integration with live data, global state management, at least two native device API integrations (such as camera, location, or push notifications), full light and dark mode support, polished animations and transitions, and an Expo EAS production build. Students will present their completed apps to the class running live on physical or simulated devices, demonstrating the full user journey through the application they have built from scratch over 16 weeks.
